Harvey Relief Fund
The Indian-American couple donated $ 250,000 to Harvey Relief Fund. This fund created in view of the devastation in Texas after Hurricane Hurricane, earlier this month. Amit Bhandari and his wife Arpita Brahmadatta Bhandari, residents of Houston gave this contribution to Mayor Sylvester Turner.
Bhandari is the owner and CEO of the ‘Bio energy’ group, based in Houston-based Energy and Agricultural Commodity Trading Company. The company has branches all over the world. Indian-American community is making efforts to collect funds for relief and rehabilitation. In a span of four days, more than 40 inches of rain occurred in many areas, due to which there was flood. Because of this flood hundreds of thousands of houses displaced, more than 30,000 people became homeless, out of which over 17,000 rescued and more than 70 killed.
All the members who led the community thanked Bhandari. At this event, Turner
praised Indian-Americans. He said, “The contribution of the Indian community has not started with Harvey, but for quite a long time they have been contributing here. Here the Indian community is aware and helps in the promotion of Houston. “He further said,” I want to thank the Indian-Americans who have contributed for the Harvey-affected area. We will rebuild, be strong and will make better preparations for next time. ‘
Indian Consul General Dr. Anupam Ray in Houston also thanked the Indian American community for their efforts. He said, ‘India is proud of your generosity. A community that is moving ahead of its suffering is great. Through your contribution, you presented a community example.
Presentation of an app ‘Disaster connect’ prepared in the direction of Gaurav Khandelwal, CEO of Houston’s Mobile Apps developer ‘Teiwan’, was also presented on this occasion.
